On the night of November 28th 1941, a Netherlands submarine co-operating with the Royal Navy in the Mediterranean torpedoed and sank the German U-boat U-95, commanded by Kapitan Leutnenant Schreiber. The only survivors from the U-boat were four officers, including Schreiber, the Commanding officer, and eight ratings, all picked up by the Dutch submarine and landed at a British port.
