The social life of the 2,500 Netherlanders ex-prisoners of War in Bangkok consists of concerts and plays which bring full houses whenever they are staged. The character dressed as a newsboy is Wim Kan, a well known Netherlands cabaretier, who as a prisoner of war himself, ran shows all through his internment and showed great ingenuity considering the total lack of facilities at his disposal. The two girls are members of Bangkok's small international set. NI 5891
