Nuns saved from Japs on N. Guinea.
1944
Nuns saved from Japs on N. Guinea. Too weak to stand, these nuns lie on stretchers awaiting transportation to an evacuation hospital after they were freed from Japanese rule by Allied forces invading D.N. Guinea. They were among the 100 missionaries, some of them American, who had been under Jap. domination for more than 18 months. They said American Army rations were the best food they had tasted since their internment. NI 6146
