Mural at Netherlands seaman's home, New York.
Mural at Netherlands seaman's home, New York. The maiden of Holland (centre) clings to tree symbolizing House of Orange. She is attacked by the German eagle, and the defeated Dutch army leans upon her. The Dutch lion has been stabbed in the back (right) while the two figures next to it express the need and hope for the restoration of justice. On the left, the merchant marine carries on, flying the Netherlands tricolor, and Orange pennant, as the means to that end. Mural by Joep Nicolas. NI 6492
