British 6th airborne division beyond Hanover. 11 april 1945. On april the 10th a paratroop brigade of the 6th airborne division advanced from Neustadt to Bissendorf, a distance of 16 miles. The troops were carried part of the way on lorries, and then continued on foot and on borrowd bicycles. This picture shows the unit during this 16 mile advance on april 11th the 6th Airborne division were reported to be three miles from Celle, the impotant communication centre north east of Hannover on the river Alle.
