Free food for the Dutch.
Free food for the Dutch. A Dutch housewife inspects stocks of Allied relief food in the window of a shop selected as a distribution center in Utrecht, Holland. Thousands of tons of Allied food supplies have been reaching Holland in large consignments since the German surrender and the danger of famine because of fields flooded by the Nazi bike-breaking project ... been averted. The Dutch people help unload relief ships at Amsterdam and Rotterdam and convoys of trucks transport the tinned foods, sugar, margarine, biscuits, milk and coffee to distribution canter throughout the country. Relief stations are issued free on presentation of food cards. Before the Germans surrendered, the Allies dropped thousands of tons of food from planes to save the starving populace.
