' The Greatest Atrocity Of The War. Men Burned To Death In Horror Barn. More than 300 bodies, roasted in a barn, just outside Gardelegen, were still smouldering when General Simpson, of the 9th Army, who took Gardelegen, went to see this latest exhibition of insane sadism. 1100 slave labourers were herded into a barn in which was now straw, seaked in gasoline. Then SS corporal of about 16 years of age opened the door larghingly put a lighted match to the straw. Fear erased men tried to break out from the blazing barn, but they were machined gunned by the storm troopers. Photo shows: Bodies of those outside, who managed to get through, one tof the doors and were shot. U.S. 9th Army soldiers are looking on. They were taken there by their commanding officer to give them some idea of the type of enemy they were fighting against. '
