Nazi Bavarian Gauleiter exhumed for inverstigation. Members of a group inverstigating circumstances concorning the death of Nazi Bavaria Gauleiter Paul Gieseler May 4, 1945, are shown inspecting the registration book of the cemetery where he was buried. Left to right: U.S. Lieutenant Colonel Wilson Colberg, chief legal offiver of the Bavatia Regional Military Government team; Captain Guenther Albrecht, German military doctor; Dr. Friedrich Gottschalk, German civilian doctor, and Luitpold Koller, undertaker. Gieseler's body was exhumed June 6 for the investigation. He had been taken to the Reserve Military Hospital in Berchtesgaden, Germany, May 3, suffering from poisoning. He recovered and was removed the same day by his Nazi adjudant but was returned the following day to be treated for head Wounds which caused his death. His wife was found dead of bullets wounds several days later.
