Americans revoke German death sentence on Austrian couple. Albert and Agnes Kaltenagger, citizens of Salzburg, Austria, stand before Major Robert M. Woodward (right), president of the board of officers reviewing the cases of civilians found in German prisons in the sector of Austria occupied by the Americans. A German court had convict them and sentenced them to death for the alleged theft of a small bundle of laundry and they were found in the Salzburg jail awaiting exdcution when Amercan forces took the cit May 4, 1945. The conviction was set aside by the Americans.
