German youths die for espionage.
German youths die for espionage. Heinz Petry, 16-year-old German, lies face down as he fell after execution June 1, 1945, by a Ninth U.S. Army firing squad for spying on American forces. He claimed he was offered a chance to clear his own record at a Hitler Youth detention camp where he was being held by spying on the Americans. He was one of the German youths convicted and executed near Braunschweig, Germany.
