Chaplain hears confession of front-line U.S. soldier. Following Catholic services in captured Auersmacher, Germany, U.S. Chaplain John T. Fournie (right) of Sellville, Illinois, hears the confession of Private John T. Barry, Seventh U.S. Army field artilleryman of New York City. Auersmacher is six miles southeast of Saarbrucken, Siegfried Line town which served as the western anchor of the Seventh Army attack line March 15, 1945, at the start of a new offensive in the Saar region.
