U.S. planes splatter Nazi installations near Munich. Explosives were directed toward machine and work shops in the aircraft works and rolling stock in the rail yard. Ranging over Germany from the Baltic to the Alps, 12,000 planes of the 8th and 15th U.S. Air Forces struck at more than 100 German installations in six days of raids ending July 22, 1944, dropping more than 16,000 tons of bombs.
