Goering's looted art treasures fouond in cave near Berchtesgaden. Priceless Oriental carpets looted from occupied Europe by Hermann Goering were found hidden in a cave in the mountainside at Konigsee, Germany, near Berchtesgaden. An American sentry is shown standing guard over a portion of the art treasures set aside by Goering for the art gallery he planned to build at Linz, Austria, to be named after him and presented to the Reich on his 60th birthday. The cave was part of a former Luftwaffe headquarters.
