Americn Military Government in Germany. On the heels of combar forces, U.S. Military Government detachments moved into the towns and cities of Germany to begin the task of bringing order out of chaos ---- of rebuilding a new, free way of life. The rebirth of Beyrouth, Bavarian city 0f 37,000prewar population, is typical of the progress toward gorvernmental, oductional and economic stability in the American-controlled centers of Germany, and hasbeen chosen in this picture series to show Military Government in action. Beyreuth is under the military control of Majot General John W. Leonard's Ninth U.S. Armered Division while the Military Government detachment is headed by Lieutenant Colonel Carrol J, Reilly. The main principe guiding the U.S. Military Government is that Germany will not be treated as a liberated country but as a defeated one. Primary objective include the imposition of the will of the allies upon occupied..
