'Push Push' leads the push A Marine dive bomber, named 'Push Push' wheels over Bougainville Island as Navy destroyers shell Jap installations (right) before the Marines landed. The 'Push Push' dove on the island to drop smoke bombs to mark landing spots on the beach directly behind the small island of Puruata (directly beneath plane). At the left are destroyers and troop-ships with landing barges starting to pull away from the ships, which hove to about a mile offshore at the entrance to Empress Augusta Bay.
