French civilians work for Americans. A French civilian wahses a U.S. Army raincoat thoroughly, before it is patched and repaired, at the 64th Quartermaster Base Depot in France. U.S. authorities revealed January 24, 1945, that 75,000 French civilians are working for the U.S. Army. They are paid by the French Government on a Lend-Lease basis. In addition to these 75,000 workers, over 100,000 civilians have already registered in the U.S. Army services for employmemnt.
