German artillery captures by American drive on Cherbourg.
German artillery captures by American drive on Cherbourg. This enemy heavy artillery in an Allied collection depot in France was taken when the Germans were forced to surrender under the superior pressure of the American drive on the deep-water port of Cherbourg. A camouflaged heavy gun is in the foreground and behind it is one which was pierced by U.S. shell fire. As Allied aircraft continue to batter German war production centers in Western Europe, Allied forces, constantly reinforced by a steady streams of supplies and equipment, are advancing unceasingly against the enemy in norhern France.
