U.s. gliders over French coast. C-47 transports, towing gliders of the Ninth U.S. Air Force Troop Carrier Command, rear over the French coast from the haze of the English Channel, carrying American infantrymen to reinforce Allied airborne troops landed carlier in the morning. These planes, part of the greatest air armada over assembled, provide a shuttle service of men and supplies across the Channel throughout the day of invasion, June 6, 1944.
