German defences of Normandy beaches.
1944
German defences of Normandy beaches. This shows a German tank trap, 15 feet in the depth and located 150 yards from a beach in Normandy, which the Nazi flooded, mined and reiforced with timbers in an attempt to stem the advance of the Allies in Northern France. The trap was part of a defense point which also included a strongly fortified house from which tunnels excended on both sides, a pillbox mounted with an 88 mm. gun and a series of mines.
