U.S. engineers aid in rebuilding Rouen railway bridge. The railway brdige over the Seine River at Rouen carrying the main line from Paris to Le Havre is rebuilt by French workers with the cooperation of U.S. Army Engineers who supplied heavy equipment including powerful steam plie drivers. the bridge was destroyed by the Germans in 1940 during their invasion of France and rebuilt in 1940-1941. It was again destroyed in 1944 by British and U.S. Air Forces to prevent its use by the Germans and was temporarily rebuilt after the liberation of France by the Allied forces. One of the spans of the temporary structire gave way and, in August 1945, was placed back into position to permit the regular flow of traffic.
