French flyers again fight Germans from home bases.
French flyers again fight Germans from home bases. Private Roy Tiefeld of Chicago, Illinois, operates a copy camera in one of the recesses of a wine cellar in an old French chateau where a reconnaissance group of the French-American First Tactical Air Force set up its photo laboratory. Gebwebbed bettles and casks were removed from the dark wine collar and, after wiring was installed along the vaulted ceilings, portable generators and pumps were brought in to supply power and water. Located near an advance reconnaissance base, the laboratory processes photographs taken over enemy territory to aid ground and air attacks on German strongholds.
