Study center for U.S. troops opens at Sorbonne. A group of U.S. soldier-students stops before the statue of Montaigne in front of the Sorbonne, during a tour of the monuments and museums of Paris, arranged by M. Salles, Director of the Musee de France. The soldiers are in the first class of more than 700 American officers and enlisted men at the Paris Study Center, which opened July 17, 1945, under the sponsorship of the Information and Education Division of the United States Forces in the European Theater, with the cooperation of the French Ministry of Education, at the Sorbonne.
