French Army returns to France. Major Henri Monfort of the Regiment de Marche du Tchad of the French Army (at extreme right) chats with other French officers on the docks of an English seaport as they await orders to board the Allied craft which transported them across the English Channel to France. The Tchad Regiment is famous for its long trek in 1942 across the desert to join Allied troops fighting the Nazis in North Africa. In 1944, this crack regiment has returned to France to battle the Nazis with the Allied Expeditionary Force.
