D-Day anniversary in Normandy. One year after the "D-Day" landings of the Allied Expeditionary Force on the beaches of Normandy, France, June 6, 1944, Lieutenant G.K. Modenfield, a staff number of the U.S. Army newspaper "Stars and Stripes", looks over cliffs on the Normandy coast which he climbed to attack German pillboxes after landing on the beach as a number of the Second U.S. Rangers on "D-Day". The wreck of a landing platform lies at the foot of the cliffs.
