One year after the "D-Day" landings of the Allied Expeditionary Force on the beaches of Normandy, France, June 6, 1944, residents of Valognes who have returned to their battle-torn town go about their affairs through streets containing stacked-up debris from buildings destroyed during the advance of Allied forces.
