Tank destroying guns of the U.S. Army. The U.S. Army's high-velocity, three-inch anti-tank gun (right), is shown at an ordnance proving ground alongside a 37mm. anti-tank gun. The three-inch gun is capable of destroying any enemy tank at long range with one shell and has been found superior to the German 88mm. gun by the U.S. Army. The 37mm. gun has proved effective against enemy scout cars, armored cars and light tanks and, used as an anti-personnel weapon, stopped several Japanese offensives on Guadalcanal Island in the Solomons.
