The major units of B-29 Superfortress are brought together to illustrate the assembly system of production used in a U.S. plant. Each unit of the four-motor bomber is completed, including installation of electrical apparatus, wiring, tubing, instruments, fighting and flying equipment. The final assembly consists morely of joining and connecting the parts. In actual assembly procedure, these parts come together at various scheduled points along the production line. Brigadier General Ray G. Harris, of the U.S. Army Air Force Material Command, said the Superfortress lands itself to sub-assembly 'better than any other plane'. Six of the largest U.S. aircraft factories are now producing B-29's in the greates manufacturing program the U.S. ever put behind a single implement of war.
