U.S. FLYERS HONORED FOR ACHIEVEMENTS IN MEDITERRANEAN THEATER. The American flag waves proudly over these members of the U.S. 324th Fighter-Bomber squadron as they are awarded a Presidential Citation for oustanding performance against the enemy in supporting the British Eighth Army in Tunisia and U.S. Armed Forces in the liberation of Sicily. Allied fighter-bombers have played an important part in the destruction of German communications and transport in Italy. U.S. planes are also active in support of Allied ground forces in France, bombing and strafing enemy island shipping, trucks, trains and installations. Other U.S. aircraft are attacking the enemy from bases in Russia, forming with their comrades in other theaters a ring of air power that is strangling Germany.
