American troops head for the Pacific war. Fresh troops to bolster American forces against the Japanese march to a pier at Camp Stoneman in the U.S. west coast state of Califonia, to board a river boat on the first lap of their journey to the Pacific war theater. By sea, air, railroad and highway the U.S. is moving more than 3,000,000 (M) troops in redeployment to swing its full armed might against the Japanese. A War Department statement issued in July, 1945, declared: Öur great mission today is to mass against our enimies in the Pacific the largest force that can be effectively employed with every resource and power at its disposal. The process has already begun. It will not stop until we rid the world permanently of this menace."
