Stars and Stripes, G.I. Morale Booster No. 1. A press room operator takes copies of "Stars and Stripes"off the ... press in the modern Times printing plant in London. The press is capable of rolling off some 50,000 copies and hour. At its pre "D-Day"peak, "Stars and Stripes"in London published 750,000 copies daily, requiring three of the Times'presses at the time. Th Army-civilian operation is a reciprecal arrangement under reverse lend-lease. Times management handles all mechanical details under the arrangement, including the securing of newsprint, of which "Stars and Stripes"uses 40 tons weekly.
