British officer directs pilots landing on U.S. Carrier. Lieutenant Donald Macqueen, British Royal Navy, act as a signal or "batting"officer aboard the U.S. carrier Charger, on which British pilots are being trained in carrier landings. Lieut. Macqueen has directed approximately 2,000 carrier landings with only two accidents. On July 7, 1944, U.S. Rear Admiral Dewitt C. Ramsey reported that the U.S. will have over 100 carriers in commision in the Pacific by the end of 1944, in addition to the great numbers of American and British carriers in other war theater. These fleets of Allied carriers and their thousands of aircraft will be concentrated against Japan after the imminent collaps of Germany.
