Neww U.S. PT boat ready for action. Looking fearsome with a snaggle-toothed face painted on the bow, a recently launched U.S. Navy PT (patrol torpedo) boat is ready for action. The new craft, built in a shipyard in the Eastern U.S., is 80 feet long and carries six guns. Recently, two PT boats were credited with shooting down four Japanes bombers while beating off a force of 30 enemy bombers off the coast of New Britain Island in the Southwest Pacific.
