Secret Gestapo radio transmitter discovered near Oslo.
Secret Gestapo radio transmitter discovered near Oslo. A Nazi officer is searched by Norwegian Home Front men who captured eight SS officers and a woman operating a powerful radio transmitter near Oslo May 31, 1945. The Nazis were taken in a raid on headquarters of Gestapo Chief Fehlis, head of Nazi Security Police in Norway. They were hiding in a building in which Home Front men found the radio transmitter, capable of sending messages to all Gestapo stations in Germany. A number of coded telegams were awaiting transmission. Arms, ammunition and food to last several months were stacked in storerooms. The SS men and their woman companion were disarmed and taken into custody.
