Rail center blasted during Nazi retreat. This scene of desolation greeted Allied Ground Forces when they entered Piombion, south of Longhorn on the West Coast of Italy. Attacks were made on all Nazi communication and rail centers by the Mediterranean Allied Air Forces during a coordinated operation to strangle enemy supply lines in Italy.
