Nuns distribute allied food to the people of Rome.
7 december 1944
Nuns distribute allied food to the people of Rome. These Catholic Sisters of the Poor are distributing food provided by the Allies at a central distribution center in Rome, where soup is served free to the public who had surrendered their ration books. Since the Allied liberation of Rome on June 4, 1944, the allotment of bread has been increased to 200 grams per person a day, as compared to the 100 grams formerly allotted by the Germans. A large public works program is stimulating employment and helping restore the city to normal.
