This reconnaissance photo shows smoke issuing from main railroad yards at Bucharest, Rumania, after flying Fortresses and Liberators of the Fifteenth Allied Air Force carried out a Heavy daylight assault April 4, 1944, in support of the Soviet offensive. Warehouses, freight depots, storage areas and rolling stock were hit. Bucharest is the junction for main supplies to Axis forces on the Russian front only 200 miles away.
