7 december 1935
War gossip at the village well. Petrol cans as water carriers. Regardless of the significance attaching to the petrol cans they use for their water supplies, native women on the northern front are intent only on their war gossip as they wait to draw water from the village well. To them patrol is only the strange-smelling liquid which is brought over in the highly-convenient cans they use for water carrying. Its influence on the war is lost on them, for they regard at is only of secondary importance to the cans in which it is conveyed.
