French crew mans U.S.-made tank destroyer.
French crew mans U.S.-made tank destroyer. Soldiers of the French Army man a U.S.-manufactured tank destroyer on maneuvers in North Africa. More than 300,000 French troops, anxious to liberate their homeland from German oppressors, have been equipped by the U.S. with thousands of tons of material, including tanks, artillery, machine guns and other modern weapons. Half of these French troops, commanded by General Henri Honore Giraud, Commander in Chief of the French forces, are veterans of the 1939-1940 fighting in France.
