Supreme Allied Commander signs historic four-power pact in Berlin. General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower, Supreme Allied Commander, signs teh historic declaration on the defeat of Germany and the assumption of supreme authority in Germany by the four major Allies in the European war at the headquarters of Marshal Gregory Zhukov in Berlin. The four major Allied military commanders, General Eisenhower, representing the U.S.; Marshal Gregory Zhukov, Russia; Field Marshal Sir Bernard L. Montgomery, Great Britain and General Jean de Lattre de Tassigny, France, signed the pact which proviceds for an Allied Control Council for the joint control of The Berlin Area, the division of Germany into four parts for occupation and the re-establishment of Germany's 1937 borders.
