General de Gaulle. General Charles de Gaulle, President of the French Committee of National Liberation, has declared: "Our country is in a position to fight at one point of its territory... French patriots are fighting in a very effective manner in the rear ... furnishing information for the enlightenment of the Allies, delaying the arrival of enemy reserves, cutting off communications .... immobilizing an important portion of enemy troops and finally, creating around the enemy that terrible atmosphere of danger and hatred which breaks up the confidence of leaders and the courage of soldiers.
