China celebrates United Nations Day. Generalissimo Chiang-Kai-Shek, with his aides reviews the mile-long Parade of Flags of the United Nations during the celebration of United Nations Day in Chungking, China's wartime capital. One hundred thousand persons lined Chungking streets to witness the parade. The Chinese celebration was one of many held in various parts of the world in accordance with a suggestion by President Franklin D. Roosevelt of the U.S. that American's annual Flag Day be observed this year as United Nations Day.
