Hitler Addresses the Reichstage for the First Time - Adolf Hitler, as the newly powerful Chancellor, makes his first speech before the body of the Reichstag meeting in the Kroll Opera House, shortly after the faked Reichtstag fire. In this speech he outlined his political program. The Reichstag, weakened bu the arrest of 100 of its members, gave him almost dictatorial powers, such powers to endure until 1938. Later the same year, the German electorate showed its approval of such high-handed policies by an overwhelming majority voto.
