Rescue of Chinese civilians from extremists, Serpong, Java.
8 juni 1946
Rescue of Chinese civilians from extremists, Serpong, Java. Recently a small patrol force of the Royal Netherlands Indies Army rescued many Chinese civilians from murder by Indonesian Extremists. They were brought across the Tjisadane river to the safety of Serpong village, where they were fed and cared for by their rescuers. This old Chinese woman, watching over two of her great grandchildren as they sleep after their ordeal, had no food for three days and had walked from her village behind the Extremists' lines to the R.N.I. Army compound at Serpong. NI 932
