Commander-in-Chief of Japanese Navy. Vice-Admiral Sankichi Takahashi, Commander-in-Chief of the Japanese Navy, specially posed for this picture on his flagship "Yamashiro", at Yokosuka Naval Station, Kanagawa Prefecture, when the Admiral took charge as the commander for the first time with the completion of the re-equipment works for the flagship. The Admiral has been taking the responsibility for the national defence on the sea in full preparation for the coming so-called "Emergency period" of 1935-36, which will start with a mammoth naval manoeuvres in the Pacific.
