Trial of Captain Sonai, Japanese war criminal, Batavia. Defending himself at a trial which may cost him his life, is Captain Sonai, motorious commander of Tjideng prison camp, where 12,000 Dutch internees were held during the war; what they suffered is a well-known story. Sonai is accused of being responsible for, and personally participating in the ill-treatment of internees. Captain Sonai is shown bowing to his judges at the commendemant of his trial, at which he pleaded not guilty. NI 5610
