NICA officials visit villages in Timor. When officials of the Netherlands Indies Civil Administration toured Netherlands Timor, the party was welcomed at the village of Soe, as can be seen in this photograph. The inhabitants of Soe have gathered round the verandah of the house, beating gongs, to honour the visitors. NI 3635

NICA

NICA (Netherlands Indies Civil Administration of Nederlandsch-Indische Civiele Administratie) werd opgericht in april 1944 voor het herstel van het Nederlandse burgerlijke koloniale bestuur na de capitulatie van de Japanse bezetter, en belast met de verzorging van de bevolking, geïnterneerden en krijgsgevangenen en de verschaffing van voedsel, kleding etcetera.
