Item is an identification card for Albert J. van Haren as a member of the Joodsche Raad voor Amsterdam (the Jewish Council of Amsterdam). The Joodsche Raad was the Dutch iteration of the Judenräte formed to issue orders from the occupying German government to the Jews of the Netherlands. According to the donor, van Haren became a member of the organization in order to postpone his deportation. Item is written in Dutch and German and includes a photo of van Haren.
