Reichskristallnacht
Surveys Nazi anti-Jewish ideology and indicates three periods of antisemitic persecution: from 1933 until the Nuremberg Laws; 1935-1938, marked by progressive worsening and physical attacks; and deportations which started with the expulsion of the Polish Jews in October 1938 and the "Kristallnacht" pogrom. Focuses on the pogrom and quotes from proceedings of a conference of Nazi leaders on 12 November 1938, dealing with methods for continuing the anti-Jewish policy and the appropriation of Jewish property. The fine imposed on the Jewish community after the pogrom saved Germany from financial disaster and allowed her to prepare for the Second World War.
