The Holocaust in French film

Discusses the evolution of the representation of the Holocaust in French dramatic and documentary films between 1940-91. Asserts that only in the late 1960s-early 1970s did French films begin to represent and analyze antisemitism in France, the popularity of Pétain, and French responsibility in the Holocaust. Analyzes in detail some of the most important films, e.g. Alain Resnais' "Nuit et brouillard", Marcel Ophuls' "Hôtel Terminus", Louis Malle's "Lacombe Lucien" and "Au revoir les enfants", and Claude Lanzmann's "Shoah".
