Describes the "Kristallnacht" pogrom in the Bavarian town of Schweinfurt: pillaging of shops and homes, arrest of all the Jewish men, intimidation and humiliation of the remaining Jews, destruction of the synagogue. Hitler youth threw stones at Jews herded together in the cattle market. Traces the sources of Nazi antisemitism in medieval Christianity and the racism of the Wilhelmine era. Chronicles Nazi anti-Jewish measures, and describes the first transport of Jews from the region to the Izbica ghetto. also describes the Landeshut labor camp which served the Kugelfischer Company of Schweinfurt; among the inmates were 50 Jewish teenagers (aged 13-17) who were brought there after the suppression of the Warsaw ghetto uprising.
